Criminal Investigations Unit

The Criminal Investigation Unit conducts follow-up investigations on crimes that occur within the department’s jurisdiction. Our detectives also process crime scenes and assist patrol officers as they conduct follow-up investigations on misdemeanors and other incidents within their training and abilities. The Troutman Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit partners with detectives and investigators from other local agencies on crimes that span multiple jurisdictions and receives assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for major crimes.

In addition to the duties of investigating criminal incidents, the Criminal Investigations Unit also oversees and is the administrator of the department’s Record Management System and in-car and body-worn camera system.

Criminal Investigations works in conjunction with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office, which is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal charges that take place within the Town of Troutman.
