Troutman Depot by Mr. Powell
The Town's informational newsletter was first mailed out to water bill customers on July 31, 2012. The October 2012 issue featured a contest to name the newsletter and the name selected by the Board of Aldermen (now Town Council) was “The Whistle Stop.” The name was submitted by Jo Powell Boggs, daughter of Loren Powell who served as mayor of Troutman for 28 years. Mr. Powell also drew the town seal which is still in use today as well as this picture of the old depot. The Whistle Stop pays homage to Troutman’s railroad days. The Board of Aldermen recognized Mrs. Boggs for submitting the winning entry at the Board Meeting on December 13, 2012.
